Plaxtol Pirates is the youth section of Plaxtol Cricket Club which has been in existence for approximately 130 years. Overlooking the beautiful Bourne valley, the village is lucky to have one of the most picturesque grounds in Kent and it is a perfect place to learn how to play an equally beautiful game. Boys and girls are welcome from the age of 5.
Coaching Sessions and fixtures The Plaxtol Pirates meet for 2 weekly coaching sessions that normally take place over a period of 8 weeks starting in early May. The Under 9s and the Under 11s meet up on Saturday morning from 9.00 - 11.00am and the Under 13s and Under 15s meet on Friday evening from 6.00 - 8.00pm.
Fixtures are organised against local teams so that the Juniors can put their training into competitive practice. All equipment is provided by the club but children are welcome to bring their own if they want.
Aims The aim of the coaching is to equip the youngsters with the basic skills to enjoy a game of cricket. The emphasis is very much on having fun in a friendly environment. The coaching is masterminded by Head Coach Tim Dickinson who has a team of local fathers to help run the sessions and competitive matches.
